1. Read everything on this FAQ page throughly!
2. Go to "Enter the Contest" tab.
3. Fill out the form and upload your accessory photo. The photo must be of your or your model wearing the accessory you made from newspaper.
4. Hit submit.
What qualifies as an accessory?
This year, we're looking for items that would enhance an outfit but itself would not be considered clothing. This would include jewelry, hats, purses, hair clips, arm warmers, etc. Vests, for example, would not qualify.
What materials may I use?
The accessory must be made of entirely of newspaper, with the following exceptions:
- Adhesive, thread, or other way to bind newspaper together.
- Utility item needed for function such as pins for hair.
- Coupons and inserts that come with the newspaper.
- Enhancing decor that is not part of the structure of the accessory. For example, a pearl added to the center of a newspaper flower is okay. (It would be better, however, to use newspaper for that center in a creative way.)
While enhancing decor is allowed, use sparingly. Submissions in which the newspaper is overwhelmed by non-newspaper elements risk disqualification.
Yes. The designer with the most votes who passes verification wins a VIP Package to see the Rock the Runway Fashion Show on February 26. This package includes premiere seating and a personal "Swag Bag." It also comes with admission to the cocktail party, silent auction and after party. But the best part is that the winner will have the opportunity to present their masterpiece on the catwalk!
What else should I know?
- Be creative and daring. Remember, this accessory is for a fashion show!
- Accessory must be handmade and available for verification in order to win the prize.
- Photo must include the designer or a model. If a model is used, we must have his or her contact information as well.
- Finalists will be selected on February 15.
- The designer with the most votes will win once their accessory is verified.
- If the designer with the most votes cannot produce the original accessory, the designer with the next highest votes will be contacted, and so on.
- The winner will have the opportunity to present their accessory on the catwalk during the event!

Pick up recycled newspapers at no cost! Limit 3 newspapers per person.
